Cream Legbars are medium-sized autosexing breed that are known for their active foraging and ability to survive in a free-range environment. The breed was created by crossing a Brown Leghorn with a Barred Rock and the Araucana. The Araucana is the source of the sky blue eggs that the Cream Legbars lay. They are the most popular autosexing breed in the world. It is very easy to visually determine male and female at hatch. The males will have a white dot on the top of their heads at hatching. The females will have a chipmunk stripe running down their backs at hatch. Roosters are vigilant and protective of the hens. The hens are rarely broody and produce a large number of sky blue eggs. An average of 260 eggs a year. Cream legbar eggs are often deceptive in their appearance because the eggs tend to be more round than most chicken eggs, and because of this they look shorter and therefore smaller. If you weigh the eggs you will find they nicely compare to other breeds.

Please specify a range of acceptable dates in the notes section before submitting your payment. After receiving your order, we will contact you by email with a scheduled ship date. We fill orders on a first come, first served basis, so it is important to place your paid order as soon as possible to get the best chance at earlier ship dates. Typically, an order can take anywhere from 1-5 weeks to ship. Please let us know if you are willing to accept any substitutions to have a quicker ship date. Please note that during the winter months chick orders will only ship once the weather is warm enough to safely ship them. Our number one concern is that our chicks make it to you safely so please be mindful of this when placing your order.
We do not accept returns on hatching eggs or chicks.
Hatching Eggs: We can not guarantee hatch rates due to many variables beyond our control during shipping. Rough handling, x-ray machines, fluctuating temperatures, and your experience with the actual incubation process all affect your hatch rate. By ordering hatching eggs from us, you accept this responsibility. We always try to include extra eggs to cover any that the shipper may crack while in transit. Please take a picture of any cracked eggs along with the package that the eggs came in showing any and all damage and email them to us as soon as possible. We will issue a refund on any damaged eggs that exceed the amount of extra eggs we sent you.
Chicks: We guarantee that our chicks will arrive alive. If any chicks arrive deceased then please email pictures to us ASAP. We will either replace or refund, at our discretion, any deceased chicks that exceed the value of free chicks you were sent. No refund will be given for shipping.
Vaccinations: Unless you specifically request otherwise your birds will be vaccinated for Marek’s disease. Please note that the Marek’s vaccine is not 100% effective, and even vaccinated birds may later contract Marek’s if the disease is present on your property. Marek’s is very common and often present in backyard flocks yet remains undetected because the flock is resistant to the disease. If you'd prefer that your chicks not be vaccinated then when checking out please include a note stating to not vaccinate.

If you decide to cancel your order, please email us with your order number and the reason for cancellation. Sometimes it is necessary for Orchard Hill Poultry to cancel an order, and we reserve the right to do so. If we cancel your order, you will be issued a full refund.
